Is Sarthak Satvik’s A2 Cow Ghee suitable for lactose and beta-casein intolerant people?

Yes, it is totally safe for the lactose and beta-casein intolerant people to consume. Sarthak Satvik’s A2 Cow ghee is made using our tech-aided ‘Bilona’ process which eliminates the milk solids. The lactose content, if at all is at very negligible. Hence, a lactose or casein intolerant individual remains safe from any unpleasant reactions

Why consume milk and its products from Indian Desi cows instead of imported cows?

A1 cow breed include Holstein, Friesian and Ayrshire, which are often present abroad. However, Desi cow breeds like Gir, Rathi, Kankrej, Sahiwal, etc. produce A2 milk. A1 and A2 beta-casein are two types of proteins found in different milk types. BCM-7 is an opioid peptide which is released during the digestion of milk from imported cow breeds. As it is not absorbed properly by the human body, it might trigger undesirable health effects like type 1 diabetes, neurological impairment, autoimmune disease, heart diseases. (You can refer a book by name ‘Devil in the Milk’ by Keith Woodford, for relation between A1 protein and lifestyle diseases) Therefore, milk from Desi cows is beneficial for people as it has hypoallergenic properties and many other health benefits.

How does cow ghee help in reducing cholesterol levels?

Scientific research has proved that various forms of fats, like ghee, seem to have a subtle effect on human health. A2 cow Ghee is a (also mostly saturated fat) and if it makes up about less than 10 percent of the dietary requirements, it can reduce cholesterol by triggering an increased secretion of biliary lipids. What is the difference between butter and ghee?

Butter has three basic components – fat, milk solids, and water. When milk solids and water are simmered out, we’re left with the pure healthy fat, known as Ghee.

Why should we use Sarthak Satvik’s A2 Cow Ghee?

Sarthak Satvik’s A2 Cow Ghee is one of the healthiest fats you can consume and a 1:1 substitute of cooking oil and butter. It is rich in vitamins A, D, E, K, and contains a special kind of fatty acid, CLA (conjugated linoleic acid), which can reduce body fat and blood pressure and also known to be anti cancerous. It also has a high smoke point and is free of lactose and casein.

Does your ghee contain any preservatives?

Sarthak Satvik’s A2 Cow Ghee is a natural product. Hence, it does not contain any preservatives or additives. It also has lowest moisture content resulting in a longer shelf life.

Does ghee cause weight gain?

What would be price implications of substituting oil with Ghee?

Vegetable oil is mostly a mix of PUFA and MUFA ie more unsaturated fatty acids leading to rancidity and Trans Fat production on exposure to heat, light and oxygen. Oils by their very nature are suitable for raw consumption and low gentle heat. As smoke point of Ghee is high and mainly composed of short chain saturated fatty acids, ghee is always preferred for higher heat cooking including deep frying. So more than price comparison, cost implication on health is important.

Why should I not buy Ghee from my A2 Cow Milk vendor and buy Sarthak Satvik’s A2 Cow?

Procurement, Processing and Hygiene from milking to packing is very important to us . We request our valued visitors to see the processing at our plant and then make a choice. Usually the A2 milk suppliers in city avoid following norms and protocols of food safety like the FSSAI , HAACP, ISO 22000 etc which lay great stress of practices, and traceability. And more over, the milk comes from(either) their own cow farms (or unknown sources) where they stall-feed all the cows (ie no social distancing), and those cows have limited area to exercise around. Whereas, we procure the milk from small marginal farmers of Bhal region, where each cows go for grazing of around 8 kms almost everyday. In terms of processing the milk, we follow very stringent norms and maintain the utmost hygiene in the processing plant.

Why are you selling only Ghee and not any other products like Milk?

Presently we are selling a long shelf life product and fresh premium Buttermilk. As we expand into other product lines, we would definitely keep communicating with our valued customers and patrons.

Why should I use glass to store Ghee and not plastic jars?

Glass bottles provide excellent protection to the product quality as they do not react with food products. Even though fragile and costlier than food grade plastic containers, we prefer not to compromise on any loss of quality.

What is good cholesterol and bad cholesterol?

HDL -high density lipoprotein is good cholesterol – it absorbs and carries cholesterol back to the liver while low Density Lipo protein is the bad cholesterol. Omega 3 containing foods help raising HDL.

Why is traditional ghee sometimes a bit granular? Shouldn’t ghee be smooth like butter?

The granular form assumed is due to certain glycerides of higher melting saturated fatty acids ,especially palmitic & stearic. This is characteristic property of ghee and is one of the preferred properties of Ghee.

My ghee was melted / liquid at the top when it arrived. Is it still good?

At prevailing temperatures , completely melted ghee might assume the form of large coarse grains suspended discretely or in clusters in a liquid phase. This is a completely natural physical phenomena of ghee to often separate into high melting fractions and low melting fractions.

What hygienic measures are taken?

Right from using acid –alkali proof tiles to using SS 304 pipes and motors to regulate flow of products and process lines to following CIP practices, manpower hygiene and training , we follow critical hazard control points monitoring and are happy to show hygiene at our processing plant to our visitors.

Does ghee fit in a Paleo diet?

Our free grazed desi cow ghee is highly recommended as a nutritious and delicious choice for any paleo-dieter.

How much ghee can you consume in a day?

Dietary policies suggest saturated fat consumption limits to less than 10% of daily caloric allowance. Men consuming 2000 Calories daily diet can consume less than 200 calories ie 22.2 grams and women with 1500 calories daily diet can take upto 150 calories or 16.6 grams per day. These dietary recommendations are for active and healthy individuals.

What is the difference between cow ghee and buffalo ghee?

Cow ghee is yellower due to presence of carotene pigments and lesser phosphorus, making calcium absorption easier. Cow ghee has been prescribed and used in Ayurvedic recipes and medicines traditionally since ages. Another difference is the ghee extracted from cow and buffalo milk. Since the buffalo milk has higher fats, it only takes half the amount of milk to extract 1 kg of ghee. For example, it takes 16 to 18 liters of milk to make 1 kg of buffalo milk where as it takes almost 30 litres of A2 cow milk to extract 1 kg of A2 cow ghee. In every Ayurveda treatment, (the prescriptions & recipes), the ghee used are of cow ghee only. Ayurveda have never promoted buffalo ghee.

Do you recommend refrigeration?

Ghee can be stored in cool dry place. once opened, we do not recommend storing in refrigerator as the outside air once entered can rapidly condense to moisture droplets making the product loose shelf life.

What is the standard delivery time?

Our courier partners normally deliver in a week in most parts of the country. However a customer can also opt for express delivery options.

What to do if an item is defective?

We try to take utmost care to deliver the best quality. However if due to any reason of ours or any of our courier partner or our stores, a defective product reaches our customer, we immediately replace the product as per our returns policy.

What is the concept of smoking point with respect to oil?

Smoke point is when over the heat oils and fats would start to generate visible smoke . Heating beyond this normally would develop acridity. Refined oils due to removal of solids and impurities have higher smoke points whereas cold pressed oils have lower ranges heating beyond which lowers flavor. Smoke point refers to the temperature at which it starts to burn and smoke. When you cook with oil that’s been heated past its smoke point, you do more than impart a burnt flavour to foods. Beneficial nutrients and phytochemicals found in many cooking oils are destroyed when it is overheated. Overheating also creates harmful free radicals. (same as question no 8) Ghee by inherent virtue has high smoking point which renders it nicely adapted to high heat cooking and flavor development of maillard reaction.

Why Sarthak Satvik’s A2 Cow Ghee costs more?

We believe that each of our customer deserves to receive the true value of their payment. We charge our customers for the Quality, Care and Hygiene that go to make the product. Besides, we make sure that the marginal farmers from which we procure the milk are fairly compensated. We are purchasing the milk at a premium to the prevailing price when compared to the prevailing practice of commercial dairy industry. So we believe that cutting cost by cutting corners is not an ethical practice and our customer’s health and quality of product cannot be compromised. A truthful product when rightly compared turns out to be more economical and satisfying in the longer run. We as an organisation have always believed in ‘Fair Trade’ and ‘Value for Money’ principles. Those two qualities are in our foundation.

Can I use ghee on Whole30 Diet?

Since Ghee has milk solids removed, it is dairy free (and whole30 friendly).
